The DA has returned to court, this time seeking to have Hlaudi Motsoeneng’s appointment as group executive of corporate affairs at the SABC invalidated.
The party filed its founding affidavit in the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday. It is arguing Motsoeneng is not a fit and proper person to hold any senior position at the public broadcaster
“The DA maintains that Mr Motsoeneng is a threat to South African democracy,” DA federal executive chairman James Selfe told a news conference in Parliament on Wednesday.
“He is an unethical, manipulative fraudster who has destroyed any semblance of good corporate governance at the SABC.
“Moreover, he is a modern-day Goebbels who treats the public broadcaster as his personal fiefdom to spread propaganda,” said Selfe.
Motsoeneng lost his job as SABC chief operating officer in September after the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed his application for leave to appeal a ruling by the Western Cape High Court, which set aside his permanent appointment.
