A line-up of celebrated artists will grace the stage at the Grand Arena, GrandWest for Music Alla Kaap on 18 February 2017. This will be the fifth time that GrandWest has played host to the anticipated showcase of Cape based entertainers. Produced by well known Alistair Izobell, Music Alla Kaap 2017 features international star Judy Boucher and South African performers Emo Adams, Garth Taylor, Candice Nicole Thornton, Nur Abrahams and Madeegha Anders. Award winning comedian Marc Lottering is the host for the evening.
According to GrandWest’s PR and Promotions Manager, Elouise Matthys, the Music Alla Kaap series has been well supported over the years and is a celebration of Cape Town’s diverse musical talent. Tickets are on sale at Computicket and range in price from R120 per person.
Boucher has had international success with many of her songs including “Dreaming of a little island”, “Tears on my pillow, “Can’t be with you tonight”, “You caught my eye” and “My Heart is yearning”. Hailing from the Caribbean, Boucher rose to international acclaim when her album Can’t be with you tonight climbed to the number two spot on the United Kingdom charts.
Izobell, who will also perform in the show, is one of the champions of local music and a well known performer. His recent successes include; Kaapse Stoep Stories, Remembering the Lux, Kaapse Jol and writing the theme song for the Kyknet soap opera Suidooster.Adams is best known for his performances with David Kramer and Taliep Petersen, including their production District 6 the Musical. He played the lead role in Kat and the Kings in Frankfurt, Vienna, Las Vegas and London.
Taylor has performed with several stars including Simply Red, Shaggy, Jonathan Butler and the late Brenda Fassie. He has an array of hits under his belt including his hit “Why” which is considered one of the classics in the South African songbook.
Thornton has shared the stage with many artists including internationals; Kirk Whalum and Phil Fearon, and local artists Chad Saaiman, Alistair Izobell and Garth Taylor. She has also performed at major music festivals such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
Abrahams received The Baxter Theatre’s Young Inspiring Artist of the Year Award in 2012 and has performed several shows including District 6 The Musical, Vocal Is Lekka and Divos.
Anders played the lead female role in the musical Carnival a la D6 and performed with Taliep Petersen for over ten years. She also performed lead female role in the hit musical D6, performed at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland.
Lottering, one of South Africa’s sought after comedians, has been on the comedy scene for 16 years and has been the recipient of several prestigious awards. His self scripted one man shows continue to sell out around the globe.
