Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC), the biggest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion on the African continent, returns to GrandWest in April 2017 with another full fight card to keep fans on the edge of their seats. The date is set for 8 April 2017 when the champion, Nevada`s Dave Mazany, will defend his EFC title against local favourite and former champion Don Madge in the Grand Arena.
Mazany is a natural showman who boasts a strong wrestling background. Not only is he undefeated in the EFC but he has also dominated opponents in other wrestling events. His challenger, Madge is a Muay Thai specialist and a recognized athlete in the EFC. He has captured the championship before. The United Kingdom’s Karl Etherington, an experienced heavyweight, travels to Cape Town for his EFC debut and is scheduled to fight against veteran fighter and former EFC champion, Ruan Potts. In addition to these feature fights, fans will also get to see 10 more exciting bouts between some of the best MMA athletes from around the globe. EFC recently signed a multiple year broadcast agreement with the SABC. As a result, all EFC fights will now take place on Saturday nights instead of Fridays. The ten annual live event broadcast will feature all five main card bouts and will be aired live between 21h00 and midnight on SABC 3.
