Annual national wage negotiations commenced at the South African Road Passenger Bargaining Council (SARPBAC) National Bargaining Forum on 22 January 2018.
Unfortunately, after three rounds of negotiations, a deadlock ensued on 16 March 2018 and a 30-day cooling-off period was entered into. This allows all parties additional time to reach an agreement to avert possible strike action.
Golden Arrow would therefore like to inform its passengers that unless an agreement is concluded by 16 April 2018 it is likely that a 48 hour notice of pending strike action will be issued. This means that a national bus industry strike could commence on 18 April 2018.
Unfortunately these negotiations take place in a national bargaining forum and as such Golden Arrow cannot avert potential strike action at company level.
We remain hopeful that a resolution will be reached and will endeavour to keep our passengers and stakeholders informed through all channels available to us.
