Kolisi, who recently signed a new long-term deal with adidas, will join the Super Rugby centurions’ club against the Bulls at his beloved Newlands this weekend and will do so in a pair of specially prepared white Kakari Light boots.
Whilst the white ‘Rose Pack’ Kakari boots are available overseas, a special pair was flown to South Africa and personalised for the 26-year-old Stormers captain who made his Super Rugby debut in 2012.
Said Kolisi, “In many ways I consider myself very fortunate. Firstly, to play in my 100th match for the Stormers is truly beyond my wildest dreams. I honestly never thought I would be at this point in my career back when I started out in 2012.
“I will never forget my debut… I was not yet 21 years old and was incredibly nervous when I came on to replace our captain Schalk Burger, who was my rugby hero growing up. It was a day that will stay with me forever and scoring a try made it all that more memorable.”
Kolisi added, “Then, to play my 100th match at Newlands, in front of our great supporters, is a special, special bonus and I hope we can reward The Faithful with a win – that, as always, is our primary goal come the weekend.
“Then, lastly, to adidas… it’s the only boot I have ever worn in my professional career and I take a lot of pride in the fact that I have played all my games for the Stormers in the three stripes. I am grateful to adidas for their support throughout my career and also well aware of the many great athletes who have worn the three stripes before me and been a part of the adidas family.”
Siya’s boots for Saturday have his name, the date and ‘100 Super Rugby games’ embellished on the outside in black, with the names of his children, Nic and Keziah, featured in white inside for extra motivation.
