The City of Cape Town’s Recreation and Parks Department advises the public to please avoid the Milnerton Beach area this coming weekend due to expected adverse weather conditions that are likely to include strong winds and a spring high tide of approximately 1,92 meters.
Further damage to infrastructure at Milnerton Beach is anticipated if the weather predictions come to pass. The public is reminded that, due to the hazardous conditions created by the recently damaged infrastructure and the extremely dangerous sea conditions expected this weekend, the beach at Milnerton will remain closed in the interest of public safety.
The City will monitor the situation closely and will undertake all necessary measures to ensure public safety as its main priority, both during and after the high seas.
The Recreation and Parks Department is in the process of establishing a safe public access point at Milnerton Beach. As soon as this has been completed and the damaged gabion baskets have been removed, the beach will be re-opened to the public.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused during this period.
