The High School Jam will rock the Grand Arena, GrandWest for the eighth year on Saturday, 18 August 2018. This is the ultimate show for young Capetonians, where teenagers from nine high schools perform to thousands of friends, families and fans gathering for the Cape’s favourite high school music event.
The objective of this incredible event is to unite teenagers, schools and communities through music, entertainment and performance. It is also a great place for teens to develop self-esteem and self-belief thanks to the support and mentorship of the producers, choreographers, facilitators and industry specialists involved in putting on this spectacular show.
The nine high schools taking part in this year’s event will each put on a half hour show, starting on the hour from 10h00. The participating schools are: South Peninsula High School, Alexander Sinton High School, Bridgetown High School, Sans Souci Girls High School, Pinelands High School, Heathfield High School, Rhodes High School, Edgemead High School and Parel Vallei High School.
To add to this year’s excitement there will also be an Inspired Stages United Showcase. This amazing element is a collaboration of teens from a variety of schools not taking part in High School Jam but who have taken part in the Inspired Stages workshops.
This teen show is choreographed by the young Inspired Stages mentors and is testimony to how Inspired Stages and High School Jam brings teens from all walks of life together through the universal language of music.
“This is such an inspirational and exciting day,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest. “We are delighted to host it again in our premium Grand Arena venue. It is wonderful to see the talent and spirit of the young people of Cape Town on stage. We can’t wait.”
