One of SA’s Top Comedians is setting out to host his second ever comedy show which promises to be the best show yet!
JOHANNESBURG – Top Comedian Sifiso Nene prepares South Africans for the greatest evening of all time as he and three other acts ignite the Silverstar Casino this September.
The Taxi Driver & passengers will be taking place in Johannesburg at the Silverstar Casino on the 1st of September 2018 and promises to be show full of reminiscent moments that makes the audience drift from a chuckle to unabashed chortles – and back to the chuckles.
Sifiso Nene is a comedian who hails from Empangeni, Kwa-Zulu Natal. Everyone who is South African knows that the dominating tribe in the taxi industry is in fact the IsiZulu tribe, so who better to entertain people about taxi indigenous stories than a man who knows the heart of where they come from? Sifiso Nene came in first place on SABC 1’s Comedy Competition So You Think You’re Funny in 2009, his career has soared to unimaginable heights which have seen him win awards such as Best Indigenous Comedian and the Comic’s Choice Awards for two years running at the SATMAS. “The show is about day-to-day observations about the life of a taxi ride. The observations that will be made throughout the show will be from the perspective of the passengers, other motorists and taxi drivers. It will be worth everyone’s time to view these experiences as we’ll be presenting them on stage.”
Sifiso will also share the stage with Mpho Popps, Tumi Stopnonsons and Siya Seya. Mpho Popps, subsequently competed for a similar title to that of Nene on So You Think You’re Funny S2 in the year following Nene’s victory but was defeated. Mpho however continued to soar into the comedic scene winning awards such as Best Newcomer at the South African Comic’s Choice Awards in 2011. He is now an ambassador for the MiWay insurance company which makes him a perennial encounter on our TV screens.
Tumi Stopnonsons is conventionally known for his YouTube sensational alter-ego Jumaima, he rose to fame when his video skit for Khumbulekhaya reached viral heights. In the video Tumi is seen pretending to be the multi-billionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe’s long lost son. Tumi can now be found gracing the line-ups of top-lining comedy shows all over South Africa.
Siya Seya is a multi-talented comedian who reigns from eMdantsane, Port Elizabeth and has sold out shows in every city that has adopted him. He started off in his home town then having conquered Cape Town, he decided to take on Johannesburg as a new project. More is yet to come from Siya and Tumi and The Taxi Driver show will produce that evidence.
The Taxi Driver takes place for one night only at The Silverstar Casino on Saturday 1 September 2018. Doors open at 18:00 and the show starts at 19:30. Tickets are available at www.silverstarcasino.co.za at R180 per person.
