Marmalade Productions and CB Entertainment are proud to announce international singing sensations, Sybil and Judy Boucher for one show only in Port Elizabeth this coming December. They will be supported by PE’s finest young talent and Cape Town’s maestro Camillo Lombard and band. The event will commence at 16h00 and will run for six hours.
Sybil achieved worldwide crossover hits with her cover versions of Dionne Warwick’s hits “Don’t Make Me Over” and “Walk on by”, which were released in 1989 and 1990, respectively. The former became Sybil’s biggest hit in the USA, peaking at #20, and was a #1 hit in New Zealand. “Walk on by” is still, to date, the highest charting position for this Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic in the UK, peaking at #6. Sybil’s second self-titled album became her biggest-selling album in the USA. Besides her singing career Sybil is currently in Graduate School pursuing an advanced degree in Leadership Studies and Adult Education… Her intention is to be known a Dr Sybil. Judy Boucher has had international success with many of her songs including her No 1 hit – Dreaming of a Little Island and Tears on my Pillow, Can’t be with you Tonight, You caught my Eye and My Heart is Yearning and she is best known for her international hit single “Can’t Be With You Tonight”, which reached No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart in April 1987. Her Belgian tour remains one of the highlights of her career; it was quite momentous. At an appearance at one stadium, there were 40,000 people with lighted candles chanting “Judy Boucher” as she sang. A surprise call also came from South Africa informing her of being a massive hit there. Judy holds the record for being the first female artist from the Caribbean to have the longest stay in the national charts and was voted as one of the top 25 most influential Vincentian songs in Jamaica. Judy is a regular visitor to our shores and her songs resonate with so many people and have become part of Cape culture.
