WORLD’S PREMIER ROCK SPECTACULAR, QUEEN: IT’S A KINDA OF MAGIC, RETURNS TO CAPE TOWN FOR ONE-NIGHT ONLY AT GRANDWEST CASINO AND ENTERTAINMENT WORLD IN JANUARY 2019
Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic @ Grand Arena, Grand WestCasino and Entertainment World – 12 January 2019
Presented by Showtime Australia
Three years after impressing Cape Town audiences with the ultimate Queen tribute performance in 2015, Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic returns to The Mother City in January 2019 for a special one-night only performance at the majestic Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World.
Showcasing an arena rock spectacular with the most sensational tribute ever staged, Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic is set to recreate Queen’s historically famous 1986 World Tour concert on stage in SA.
If you’re wanting to kick off 2019 with a bang, this show gives ultimate rock fan the chance to go “Ga Ga” by singing and dancing along to some of the most classic rock hits of our generation.
Relive the magic of ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We Are the Champions’ and ‘Fat-Bottomed Girls’ and more, with this two-hour live theatrical rock experience.
The show’s continued global success is attributed to the attention-to-detail in this mind-blowing and energetic stage show, which includes the costumes, instruments and lighting cues which have been designed to replicate those seen in real Queen concerts.
Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic’s global success has also attracted the attention, endorsement and eventual involvement of Freddie Mercury’s best friend, neighbour, biographer and personal assistant for 12 years: Peter Freestone.
After reviewing the show while in Singapore in 2007, Freestone contacted Showtime Australia promoter and director, Johnny Van Grinsven, with his compliments and support for the production. A friendship ensued between these two, upon which Freestone has since toured with the show globally, working as a production consultant for the show.
“I have not seen another show in the world do it better.” – Peter Freestone
Multi-talented English musician, Giles Taylor, takes on the iconic role of Freddie Mercury and is the only tribute performer in the world who sings and plays both piano and guitar live on stage.
“It’s a major thrill for us to bring the show back to Cape Town. Freddie was known for his powerful voice and vocal range, and had a very distinct character in general, so emulating him is quite a challenge, but the show pays so much attention to detail and I’m sure the True Queen fans will appreciate this live rock experience,” says Taylor.
Supporting Taylor on stage throughout this two-hour rock experience are: South Africa’s very own Steven Dennett as John Deacon on bass guitar, Australians Richie Baker, as Brian May on guitar, and Kyle Thompson, as Roger Taylor on drums.
Tickets for this spectacular show can also be purchased via Computicket at either www.computicket.com or via Checkers and Shoprite retail stores, countrywide, and are priced between R120 and R380 each.
