5FM marks a brand new season with a jam-packed calendar of events this September with highlights that include Nick Hamman’s 3rd annual Hamman Time Heritage Tour.
Embarking on another epic journey around the country, Nick Hamman (Hamman Time, Mondays – Fridays, 09:00 – 12:00) sets course through South Africa searching for the “Real Makoya” along the way. This year the Heritage Tour welcomes herbal balm Zam-Buk as the official sponsor of the tour as Nick discovers new roads as we celebrate our heritage, the diverse people and places and uncovering real gems, the “real McCoy”, in each of the provinces.
Together with producer Mad money Mike, Nick left Johannesburg on Monday, 2 September heading towards Mafikeng for their first stop in the North West Province, before dipping into Kimberley, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Durban, and Nelspruit before heading back to Gauteng for stops in Johannesburg and ending in Polokwane. Listeners will be able to engage with Nick as he broadcasts live from various activities around the country and set him challenges within each of the provinces.
In commemoration of Heritage Month, the station will also partner with the National Braai Tour with Jan Braai. The tour takes place from 7-13 September starting in the Mother City, Cape Town and ending at Gariep Dam in the Free State Province. The 5FM Top 40 with Msizi James will broadcast from the launch event in Cape Town at the Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel on Saturday, 6 September . On the finale day of the tour, The Thabooty Drive (Monday to Friday, 15:00 – 18:00) will broadcast live from the event from Gariep Dam.
For the first time this year, 5FM will partner with Comic Con Africa – South Africa’s premiere multi-genre entertainment convention that showcases the best if comic books, science fiction and fantasy related film, television and popular art and culture. As the official radio partner, the station will broadcast live with various shows from the event at Gallagher Convention Centre for all four days, from Saturday, 21 – Monday, 24 September. From Thursday, 26 – Sunday 29 September, the Global Dance Supreme Championship takes place at Walter Sisulu Hall in Johannesburg. 5FM is the official radio partner of the event and will broadcast live and activate at the event from the Intercontinental Dance Championship on Friday, 27 September . The event attracts over 1000 of the world’s top dancers and crews from 20 countries to compete for the title and a cash prize of R150 000.
