More about Stan Mars:
Stan Mars, already knew from age 14 that he wanted to be a “radioman”, while his peers were all dreaming about becoming doctors and lawyers. And nothing would change his mind as he grew older and wiser – typical of Stan – as when his mind is made up, nothing can stop him and his determination.
So after years of paying his dues over and over since first making it onto radio in1997, Stan has now become a firm favourite over the airwaves with his personality and charm captivating listeners during the week on Good Hope FM from 9am until around noon, and on top of it, Sundays from 3pm and 6pm too.
Stan started his radio journey after school at UWC Radio, over and above significant time spent at MFM 92.6 and UCT Radio in order to perfect his craft. Many years followed on a variety of community radio stations, but with a refusal to give up and with his dad as his inspiration, Stan finally officially became part of radio royalty in Cape Town when he impressed and delighted stakeholders who welcomed him into the commercial radio family at Good Hope FM.
Stan’s passions include cars and he is a huge fan of quarter-mile and top-end racing, explaining that “cars have always been my passion for as long as I can remember – I really enjoy the classics of the 80’s”. From there, his passions also extend to food, especially those that “come from Rylands and Gateville; the type you want to get at 3 am just before the sun starts waking up,” he says.
Weighing a bit more than the average man, Stan is very comfortable in his own skin, but adds that “the quest to lose weight is never-ending, especially since having children”.
