Rising star, Thembeka Mnguni, who released her debut album, Brave, on Friday, 22 July 2016, collaborates with some of South Africa’s foremost female artists in the all girl concert, Divas Unite, at GrandWest on 9 August 2016, in celebration of Women’s Day. This will be Mnguni’s first major appearance on a big stage with a symphony orchestra.

Fans of the reality TV talent series, The Voice, will recognise Mnguni from her performances on the show. Making into the final was a big achievement for her and despite not winning she secured a record contract which has resulted in the release of her first album. Mnguni is no stranger to the entertainment scene having toured many years ago with theatre impresario Pieter Toerien’s productions of the musicals Grease and High School Musical.

Elouise Matthys, PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest, says: “We are delighted to host Mnguni on our stage for her first major show. Her fans should enjoy seeing her perform live for the first time with a symphonic orchestra since The Voice.”

Tevin Campbell was born in Dallas, Texas on November 12, 1976. At the age of 12, he became one of the youngest solo artists to ever be signed to a major record label. Quincy Jones took a special interest in Tevin’s talent and he appeared on Jones’ LP Back on the Block and was featured on “Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me),” which hit number one on the R&B charts in June 1990. Later that year, he appeared in Prince’s Graffiti Bridge film singing “Round and Round,” which Prince wrote for him and which became a gold single. Next, in the summer of 1991, he appeared on the soundtrack to Boyz in the Hood singing “Just Ask Me To,” a Top Ten R&B hit. All of this set the stage for his debut album, 1991’s T.E.V.I.N., which went platinum and spawned two R&B chart-toppers, “Tell Me What You Want Me to Do” and “Alone with You,” as well as the R&B Top Five hit “Goodbye.” I’m Ready, released two years later, did even better, going double platinum and featuring three R&B chart hits — the number one “Can We Talk,” “I’m Ready,” which went Top Five, and “Always in My Heart,” which reached the Top Ten. Campbell’s compilation album “The Best of Campbell” was a huge international success, reaching multi-platinum status in Africa, Japan and the UK. Campbell has worked with some of the industry’s top writers and producers including Prince, Babyface, Al B. Sure, Narada Michael Walden, Wyclef and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Thanks to the folk at ASICS I have tickets to the big game on Saturday 25 June 2015 at 5pm!

It’s the decider between South Africa and Ireland after the Boks made a historic comeback last Saturday, beating Ireland 32-26 in Jozi after losing to them in the opener back in Cape Town. This weekends game is one of immense importance as not only will it be decided who the winner is but both teams have a reputation to defend. Ireland have never beaten South Africa in a series on home soil and this is also the Boks first series under new coach (Grahamstown born) Allister Coetzee.

You don’t need to miss this massive encounter nor watch it from your lounge. You could be at the game!!! :)

Simple competition (cos we like giving away free stuff on baydu.co.za) and all you need to do to win one of 2 sets of tickets is to answer the following question:
