The DA in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament welcomes the appointment of Allister Coetzee as the new coach for the South African Rugby Team and wishes him well.
In my capacity as Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Cultural Affairs and Sport in the Western Cape, I will write to the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport in the Province, Anroux Marais, to inquire what support her Department is giving Western Cape rugby federations, to ensure that more Western Cape born rugby enthusiasts stand a chance to one day become Springboks. Circle your calendars for Saturday, 16 April 2016 for some live DIY action with a comic twist when Suzelle DIY, played by actress Julia Anastasopolous, takes to the stage for the first time at The Boardwalk Amphitheatre in Port Elizabeth.
Well-loved for her hilarious do-it-yourself advice on everything from how to create a vertical garden to advice on whipping up a boerewors bagel dog, Suzelle DIY is just as famous for her “O f*k!” phrase.
A firm favourite ever since she first appeared on the internet in May 2014 with practical tips that include personal upstyling to furniture renovations, Suzelle more recently teamed up with local politician Helen Zille to share water saving tips via her own special brand of YouTube videos. 8 April 2016, Johannesburg – The gifted and alluring Cara Frew, is set to release her first EP, Come Close to Me, featuring tracks Dive, Closer, Skin Deep and Weightless, and will be available for download on iTunes on the 22nd of April 2016.
Cara worked on this four-track EP in Los Angeles with Daniel Heath. His writing and production credits include Blue Jeans and Young and Beautiful for Lana Del Rey, as well as music for Maleficent and 50 Shades of Grey soundtracks. All four tracks were co-written with Stefan Skarbek, who worked closely with the legendary Amy Winehouse until her passing.
The EP is one of Cara’s most personal as she incorporates her strong Lana Del Ray influence into deep grooves, electronic elements and her signature slow, atmospheric sound. It features darkly shaded synths that cascade into lush walls of sound and her clean vocals resonate a bruised beauty. The music video for Dive has been released https://bit.ly/1Wmuisi and Weightless is set to follow in the next few weeks. Continue reading

In the Laureus Awards this year, Lewis Hamilton has been nominated for the Sportsman of the Year Award. Is that a worthy nomination, would you say?
DAVID COULTHARD: Well, not to be disrespectful to the others that have been nominated, and clearly as a motorsports person, I think that Lewis has continued to show that he has all the qualities of an elite sportsman, certainly in motor racing, he’s delivered consistently since he first joined for McLaren in 2007 right through until today. He has been crashed, he’s been the man that you watch during qualifying to see what lap time he can deliver, and he races in a sort of Senna‑esque way. So there’s no question that out of a quality field of drivers, he deserves that nomination. Continue reading

Melrose Arch, one of the country’s most luxurious and high-end shopping and business centres, has donated one hundred running metres of sheets of vinyl in the form of billboards to DeskBags, a NPC dedicated to creating mobile desk solutions for underprivileged children around South Africa.
DeskBags is an innovative concept that provides school satchels that double as desks when folded open as the bag flap is reinforced with ABS plastic, providing a hard and stable surface for children to write on to do their lessons and homework.
Many schools around the country are not furnished with the most basic of amenities, such as school desks or chairs. According to Angie Motshekga, Minister of Basic Education 3.1 million children do not have school desks and are forced to learn while seated or kneeling on dusty floors, and using the ground as a writing surface.
