Challenging tests await the five South African Vodacom Super Rugby franchises in action this weekend as the unbeaten DHL Stormers and Cell C Sharks meet in an intense derby, while the Emirates Lions and Toyota Cheetahs hunt victories overseas, and the Southern Kings go in search of their first win of the season.

The main match-ups of the weekend will undoubtedly be the clashes between the DHL Stormers and Cell C Sharks in Cape Town, and the undefeated Emirates Lions taking on defending champions, the Highlanders, in Dunedin both on Saturday.

The Johannesburg side will go up against the Highlanders at the Forsyth Barr Stadium at 08h35 where they will hunt their fifth successive victory abroad. Should they register a win, it will also mark their third back-to-back victory against a New Zealand team.

The duel between the DHL Stormers and Cell C Sharks, at 17h15 on Saturday, is expected to deliver a thrilling forward-dominated battle. However, with both teams boasting exciting backs, they too will look to make their presence felt. A defeat for either team will mark their first of the season. Continue reading

The winning pair will be announced in the Absa Pride Hospitality area where they will receive a unique #ConquerAsOne jersey to wear proudly during the next day’s stage. MONDAY, 21 MARCH, 9:30PM

After the dramatic end of Umlilo season 2, viewers can anticipate more heart-stopping drama when the show returns for a third season in a new time slot on Monday, 21 March at 9.30PM.

Umlilo season 1 first aired on e.tv in March 2015. Season 1 explored a polygamous marriage and the interpersonal dramas of a family in a state of flux. It was during this season that polygamist Mnqobi introduced his third wife Khwezi, oblivious to her devious intentions.

Season 2 returned in August 2015, where more drama and death took place. We saw Khwezi, along with her uncle Welcome, put their plan into action, leaving the Simelane’s in tatters. Dumile made sure she discovered Khwezi’s identity, but it was too late as Mnqobi had already lost his first wife Cebisile and his entire family’s lives were in danger.  In the end, Khwezi held Mnqobi and Dumile hostage, forcing him to shoot Dumile. DHL Stormers Head Coach Robbie Fleck has made four changes and a positional switch in the starting XV to face the Cell C Sharks at DHL Newlands.

There is just one injury-enforced change to the backline, with Kurt Coleman stepping up at flyhalf in the absence of Rob du Preez who has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks with a knee injury. This means that the talented Jean-Luc du Plessis could make his Vodacom Super Rugby debut if he comes off the bench to replace Coleman.

In the front row props JC Janse van Rensburg and Frans Malherbe get their first opportunity to start this season, with Oli Kebble and Vincent Koch taking their respective places on the replacements bench.

Siya Kolisi will also get his first start of the Vodacom Super Rugby season, with Schalk Burger taking the No.8 jersey and Nizaam Carr moving to No.6 in place of Sikhumbuzo Notshe who is set for an impact role off the bench. Continue reading
