If you’ve ever caught yourself replicating dance moves from a music video, then you’re direct proof of the power of a video as a branding tool. To recognise both the creative process and the value of a music video in the building of an artist as brand, the Loeries have created a dedicated music video category. Entries for this year are open, and artists or producers creating innovative music videos are encouraged to enter their work.
Last year New Monday received a silver Loerie for the production of Thee More Shallow’s 2am video. Prior to the category being established, music videos for artists such as the Die Antword, Spoek Mathambo and Skrillex have been awarded Loeries for creative excellence.This year, Channel O is the category sponsor. Popularity of either the song or the artists does not play any role in the judging process and the work is viewed purely on its creative merit by brand communication experts.
