The Western Province Blood Transfusion Service hosted a blood clinic at GrandWest to make it easier for its employees to donate blood. The Western Province Blood Transfusion Service is a community based regional health organisation formed by an association of voluntary blood donors, dedicated to providing the safest blood products and efficient service to the community, while operating at the highest professional and ethical standards and remaining a viable organisation. They collect more than 130 000 units of blood annually, used to save or enhance the lives of over 390 000 people per year.
Blood is desperately needed in the Western Cape where less than 1.2% of the population are blood donors. Pictured in front of the mobile blood clinic at GrandWest are Melaney Simonhoff, Amanda Groenmeyer, Willem Barnard and Ashley Ohlsen.
