Designed by the country’s top landscape architects and designers, 20 diverse and creative show gardens will be on display at the Cape Town Flower Show. Curated and coordinated by, Paul Odendaal, owner of Compass Gardens. The show gardens will be the main highlight of the Cape Town Flower Show, which takes place from Thursday 27th–Sunday 30th October 2016 at The Castle of Good Hope, in the centre of Cape Town.

With over 15 years’ experience in the horticultural industry, Paul has worked with great garden personalities such as Keith Kirsten, Raymond Hudson and the late gardening expert, Lynton Johnson. Paul will bring his vibrancy and enthusiasm to the Cape Town Flower Show, while inspiring, and assisting each of the landscapers.

The Cape Town Flower show offers the landscapers the opportunity to explore their creativity, whilst challenging them to show their understanding of the current environment.· Megan Mackenzie of Life Landscapes

Her garden is designed for the small townhouse or flat with design elements including shapes, heights, colour palette, plant selection, water features and hard landscaping. Megan has worked for many years with Posy Buckland, Daniel Makgoba and Simon Zondi, all of whom will be part of the team assisting with the planting of the Flower Show garden entitled LIVING ROOM.

· Elaine Skidmore of Elainscape International

The garden design will reflect a sustainable contemporary sculpture garden which shows the visitor how to incorporate a viable garden within a small space.

· Cara Smith of Cape Contours

Using a Sub-Saharan theme with a contemporary twist, the garden will highlight water wise design and responsible use of eco-friendly materials.

· Linda Galvad of Sought After Seedlings

Her garden will show how growing your own food doesn’t necessarily require a large area of land, or plentiful space. Many veggies and herbs can easily be grown in pots on windowsills or balconies.

· Eti Buys of Kimko Gardens

Sustainable and contemporary; all plants in her show garden will be grown by Kimko and can be used for cooking, medicine, or simply to enjoy in any space.

· Angela Langley of Designs for Nature

The overall design aims to reflect the vibrant, dynamic culture of Cape Town, celebrate the wide and unique range of plants in the Cape Floral Kingdom, and inspire people to find creative ways of using these plants in their gardens.

· Clayton Laue of Paarman Landscapes

The aim of this garden is to show the reality of combining a small garden that incorporates veggies or herb boxes into a space, whilst maintaining a high level of style.

· Anthony Teuchert of Atlantiscapes

In order to stimulate and educate visitors, his garden will focus on the biodiversity in, on and around the newest natural wonder of the world, Table Mountain.

This annual lifestyle show brings together gardens and gardening, planting trends and designs for living outdoors; unites notions of beauty, sanctuary and sustainability; and celebrates local food, culture and community. The show taps into a gardening culture that’s young, vibrant and identifies with a universal awareness for the need to care for the environment.
