From well -known faces to the newest talents, you’ll be sure to enjoy an evening of laughs at Café Roux’s Stand-Up Sessions.Headliner for August 3rd event Siv Ngesi is one of SA’s most dynamic actors and comedians and with good reason. He immersed in several different spheres of the performing arts at one time, showcasing his talents across a number of platforms. He was voted Mail & Guardian’s most influential young South African. Age 9, Siv toured Asia with Les Miserables in the coveted role of Gavroshe. Since then landing roles in films such as World Unseen, Zeenon Z3 , Schweitzer , Invictus and Long Walk To Freedom. In 2014 Siv captivated audiences with his smile and dance moves in the 7th Season of Strictly Come Dancing. Siv performs to expats all around the world and with his very South African flavour of humour , he makes many want to book a ticket back home to SA .
Tracy Klass has been performing stand up comedy since her arrival in Cape Town in 1999. She is known for her ‘growing up disgracefully’ stance on life and being dragged towards middle age – kicking and screaming rather than floating gracefully on a cloud of Clarins and botox. She also gives a unique take on those issues women hold very dear; children, weight, ageing and food.
Dalin Oliver is a Cape Town based Comedian and the Sports Presenter on Good Hope FM’s Breakfast show. Hehas managed to capture audiences with his clean cut energetic brand of comedy. From recording his first DVD Special of his debut one man show “I Came, I Taught, I Left”, to being featured on Comedy Central and performing at sold out runs at the Baxter Theatre as well as National Arts Festival, Dalin is fast becoming a familiar face on the South African comedy scene.
Yaseen Barnes is a Capetonian one-liner comedian, Yaseen Barnes, is a fresh face on the local comedy scene and arguably a master of his craft in this genre. First making a splash as the winner of the Joker’s Comedy Championship in 2013, Barnes was quickly noticed and went on to perform at major festivals such as Rocking the Daisies and the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in the same year. This helped him showcase his talents nationwide, subsequently building him a loyal and dedicated fan base – both at theatres and clubs throughout the country, as well as online.
