A snowy adventure for education project youths

A group of grade eight learners from Khayelitsha and Kensington enjoyed a morning of snowy adventure at Snow World, GrandWest on 30 July 2016. The outing, organised by GrandWest’s Social Economic Development Department and SHAWCO (the University of Cape Town Students’ Health and Welfare Centres Organisation), was a rare opportunity for the youngsters to escape their realities and have unprecedented fun.

They spent the morning romping in the snow and ice tobogganing, which was a first for all of them. After their icy escapades, the learners, who are from Khayelitsha and Kensington and are part of SHAWCO’s 14 volunteer driven Education projects, were treated to lunch at Burger King, courtesy of GrandWest.
