Popular all girl band, BlackByrd is in the stellar lineup of artists set to light up the stage for the all female concert, Divas Unite, in celebration of Women’s Day on 9 August 2016 at GrandWest. Also on the bill for the evening are Zoë Modiga, Thembeka Mnguni, Rouchelle Liedemann, Magdalene Minnaar, Lynelle Kenned, Adelia Douw, Judy Page, Donné de Kock, Bev Scott-Brown and Kim Kallie.
Elouise Matthys, PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest, says that BlackByrd, one of South Africa’s foremost all girl bands, promises to be a highlight of the show. “Fans will get to hear some of their familiar hits as well as new material from their recently released second album, Home,” she says.
Award winning BlackByrd comprises Cape Town based songwriter, lead singer and guitarist, Tarryn Lamb, her cousin Tamsyn Maker who plays rhythm guitar and sings backup vocals and Axene Chaberski-Loubser, the second lead singer and lead guitarist. Chaberski-Loubser, the band’s most recent member, was the youngest ever SAMA winner at just sixteen, with her solo debut album 16. Each of the members brings different talents and personality to the trio, making for a dynamic cocktail and great audience appeal.Tickets are available at Computicket and range in price from R180 per person. Children over the age of six can attend the concert, with tickets costing R120 per child, aged six to 12. The Divas Unite concert will start at 15h00 but doors to the Grand Arena will open early at 14h00.
