Women’s Day on 9 August 2016 saw a bevy of talented female artists perform at the Grand Arena, Grand West in the second Divas Unite concert with a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales to be donated to two Western Cape based women’s charities; The Saartjie Baartman Centre and Project Flamingo. Cheques for R25 000 each have been presented to the organizations on behalf of GrandWest and Divas Unite.
The Saartjie Baartman Centre in Manenberg offers support to victims of crime with emphasis on abused women and children. Project Flamingo works to extend healthcare services to facilitate more timely detection and treatment of cancer.
