STATEMENT BY THE CITY’S EXECUTIVE MAYOR, PATRICIA DE LILLE
It is with a great sense of vindication that we have learned that the ANC’S application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of appeal in the City of Cape Town logo matter was dismissed yesterday, with all costs against the ANC National Office.
The ANC has spent the last two years trying to declare invalid the Council’s resolution to overhaul the City’s branding. They tried relentlessly to make it a debate about shapes and colours because they do not understand the concept of having a progressive vision for this city. This was evident during the elections and the court ruling today proved this lack of vision once more today.
The court found that it did not believe that another court would come to another conclusion and dismissed the application for leave to appeal with costs.
The City will now pursue payment from Luthuli House.
