He now leads The Jonathan Rubain Band which was formed in 2007 and is a favourite at festivals in and around Cape Town. He’s played with legends such as Errol Dyers, Robbie Jansen and the Cape Jazz Band. “With this show, I’d like to take the audience on a reminiscent journey of seeing their favourite gospel artists perform again from that golden era and to honour and celebrate the legends from that time.”Lionel Petersen is one of the leading performing artist’s of gospel music in South Africa who’s recognized in the industry for his R&B and gospel sound. When Lionel is not performing on stage he is a preacher in his community.
Glenn Robertson is a renowned jazz and gospel artist who has become a stalwart in the industry. His musical influences came largely from that of Al Jarreau, Nat King Cole and Jimmy Messina. He was a founding member of the band Airborne and a leading vocalist for the Tony Schilder Trio during his career. Another golden legend who is no stranger in the industry is Alban Petersen. Today he’s a household name in the gospel music arena having built a successful career over the years having recorded ten albums to date.
Other gospel groups forming part of this exciting line-up include Solid Foundation and Christian Explainers who have remained front runners on the local gospel scene where most music veterans have drawn their inspiration from.
