Cape Town – A motivated Proteas outfit completed a clinical victory over Australia by 142 runs at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Sunday after scoring 361 for six.
South Africa bowled Australia out for 219 in a performance that will give the Proteas a lot of confidence.
Australia handed debuts to Joe Mennie and Chris Tremain.
The lack of pace in the Australian lineup was evident from the outset as the Proteas piled on the runs.
Quinton de Kock couldn’t follow up his big ton in the first ODI as he fell for 22 off 24 balls.
Rilee Roussow made a second consecutive fifty as he made 75 off 81 balls to lay a good platform for the South African middle order.
JP Duminy (82) shared a 150 run partnership with Skipper Faf du Plessis which allowed South Africa to post a big score.
Du Plessis scored a great captain’s century but fell for 111 while trying to push the tempo up.
