Port Elizabeth – Former mayor and current leader of the ANC opposition in Nelson Mandela Bay, Danny Jordaan, is set to announce his resignation on Monday afternoon.

Nelson Mandela Bay region ANC spokesperson Gift Ngqondi confirmed that Jordaan would be announcing his resignation as party leader in council at a press conference on Monday afternoon at 14:30.

The ANC Regional Task Team (RTT) announced that Jordaan had been nominated and had accepted the position of leader of the opposition at a press conference just over a month ago, on August 24.

Jordaan was, however, notably absent from the proceedings.

“He is our tried and tested leader. We don’t just select people, we select people on the basis of what they possess,” Nelson Mandela Bay’s ANC RTT convener, Vuyani Limba, said at the time
