Vibrant ensemble of Cape Town musicians and performers present Tribute to Taliep Petersen at GrandWest
An ensemble of some of Cape Town’s musicians and performers come together to celebrate the life and music of the late Taliep Petersen at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on 29 October 2016. The nostalgic Tribute to Taliep Petersen is produced by Emo Adams and directed by veteran director, Basil Appolis. The show will feature Camillo Lombard, jazz band, Top Dog SA and a collaboration of other local musicians, Malay choirs, minstrels and members of some of the casts of Petersen’s award winning musicals.
“The Tribute to Taliep Petersen marks a decade since the legendary entertainer was slain. His life and music will be remembered in a vibrant and colourful showcase which includes people whose lives he touched,” says Elouise Matthys, PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest.

Fondly known as “Cape Town`s Mr. Entertainment”, Petersen was a talented singer, composer and director of a number of successful musicals, including District Six: The Musical, Poison, Fairyland, Crooners, Kat and the Kings, Klop Klop and Spice Drum Beat: Ghoema.During his career, he won several awards, most notably a Best New Musical Olivier Award with David Kramer for Kat and the Kings, which had runs in Las Vegas, New York’s Broadway and in London’s West End.
