At 02h00 on Sunday morning, 13 people died when the bus they were travelling in lost control and left the N1, 10Km outside Touwsriver in the direction of De Doorns. Four adult males, as well as three adult females and a baby boy were critically injured and rushed to Worcester Provincial Hospital by Western Cape Government Health Emergency Medical Services. The fatal incident produced 12 other seriously injured patients as well as 23 patients with minor injuries of which three were children.
