Pumptrack

Fifty metres of fun is what children of all ages will encounter at the V&A Waterfront’s temporary pumptrack between Thursday, 8 and Thursday, 29 December this festive season. The popular Pumptrack will return again in the New Year, fromMonday, 2 to Tuesday, 10 January at the Clock Tower Square.
A pumptrack is a continuous track where the rider uses an up and down ‘pumping’ motion to propel the bicycle/scooter forward instead of pedalling, providing the perfect tool to improve balance, learn skills and improve confidence on a bike. Open from 10.30am to 5pm daily, helmets, bikes and scooters will be provided free of charge. Not entirely restricted to children, adults are also encouraged to explore the Pumptrack.Christmas Light Show

The first day of extended trading hours, Friday, 9 December, will be marked by a Christmas Light Show to dazzle Victoria Wharf shoppers with a beautiful display of coloured light patterns, all set to Christmas-themed music, carols and performances to instil traditional Christmas cheer.
Light Shows will be held twice daily at 8.30pm and again at 9.30pm, and is sure to delight young and old alike!
Stargazing at the Waterfront
Date: Saturday, 10 December
Time: 1–9pm
Venue: Old Pierhead Square
Cost: Free to attend
A budding astronomer’s delight, both young and old are invited to experience the stars at the V&A Waterfront this December, with a free-to-attend stargazing event being held on Saturday, 10 December from 1 to 9pm at the old Pierhead Square, near the Port Captain’s Building. Visitors can enjoy live telescope views of the Sun, Moon, stars and planets during this special event.
Petting Zoo
Date: Saturday, 10 – Thursday, 29 December

Note: Petting Zoo will close at 2pm on Christmas Eve (24 December)

The ever-popular Petting Zoo will return to the V&A Waterfront this December, giving younger visitors the chance to cuddle up to their favourite furry friends.
Situated at Clock Tower Square, the Petting Zoo will be open to children of all ages from Saturday, 10 to Thursday, 29 December from 10am to 5pm, except for Christmas Eve, 24 December, when it will close early at 2pm to await Santa’s arrival. The Petting Zoo will return again in the New Year, running from Tuesday, 3 to Tuesday, 10 January. Entrance is affordably priced at just R25, making it the perfect way to entertain the kids these holidays. Tickets are available at the door.
Zip Zap Circus

Venue: V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre

The Zip Zap Circus returns to the V&A Amphitheatre this December, with a high-paced, energetic show entitled Upside Down Town, whose twists and turns that are sure to keep young ones spellbound! Held daily from Monday, 12 to Tuesday, 20 December from 4 to 5pm, acts featured in Upside Down Turn performances include jugglers, trapeze artists, contortionists and many more.
Santa’s Workshop
Date: Saturday, 10 to Saturday, 24 December
Time: 10am – 4pm
Venue: Victoria Wharf Centre Court
Cost: Free to attend
With a ho-ho-ho and a belly full of fun, Santa and his elves will be at Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre this festive season. From 10am to 4pm from Saturday, 10 to Saturday, 24 December, children of all ages can come down to Santa’s Workshop at the Centre Court where they can meet Santa himself and tell him all of their Christmas wishes.
Please note that a professional photographer will not be on-site to take images. Parents and guardians are advised to bring their own cameras for photographs.
Christmas Special – Apostle Choristers
Date: Wednesday, 21 December
Time: Sound check: 6pm
Performance: 7–8pm
Venue: V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre
Cost: Free to attend
Families are sure to get into a cheerful, festive spirit with the Apostle Choristers, who will fill the V&A Amphitheatre with Christmas cheer on Wednesday, 21 December from 7 to 8pm. Excited visitors are welcome to stop by a little early and catch the Choristers’ sound check at 6pm.
First established in 1995 to promote choral music within the community, the choir is managed by the Ithemba Cultural Society. It is musically directed by well-known Camillo Lombard and is divided into three regions, namely the Cape Metropole, Boland and the Swartland.
