The City of Cape Town wishes to inform motorists and residents who have planned to make use of any vehicle and traffic-related services today that South Africa’s Electronic National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS) is down across the country. Therefore no transactions can be processed. Read more below:
The eNaTIS system is expected to be offline for the next few hours, but it could be longer.
‘The City apologises for any inconvenience and emphasises that this has been an unexpected and unplanned shut down across the country. The City is merely an agent which facilitates eNaTIS services on behalf of other government spheres. The situation is similar to when a bank is offline and banking services cannot be processed.
‘Customers are advised not to attempt to renew their motor vehicle licence discs or driving licence or related services today at municipal centres. Online vehicle-related services will also not be possible as all required information is linked to the eNaTIS,’ said the City’s Executive Deputy Mayor, Alderman Ian Neilson.
The City will endeavour to communicate any changes to the status quo in a timeous fashion.
To check on the status of the system, customers may also phone the City’s Call Centre on 0860 10 3089.
