Since opening the City’s first Revenue Customer Care and Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) Office in the Liberty Promenade Mall in Mitchells Plain, close to 240 000 transactions have been processed. Read more below:
The City of Cape Town’s walk-in centre in the Liberty Promenade Mall in Mitchells Plain is a shining example of how the City is doing everything in its power to bring services closer to its residents.
Since the opening of this walk-in centre in December 2014, about 120 000 account transactions have been processed and more than 118 000 applications for motor vehicle registrations have been dealt with. More than 8 800 debt arrangements have also been concluded at this office.
‘The City has been embarking on a process of transforming the manner in which we deliver services so that we can transform the lives of our beneficiaries and communities. By creating centres of excellence, better services will be delivered to all of our residents. We are dedicated to making services more accessible to our residents and are working hard to secure similar opportunities in other areas in the metro.
‘We are transforming how our City works to make it a more customer-centric, responsive organisation which is there to serve all of the people of Cape Town.‘The number of debt arrangements, applications for indigent registrations, and rates rebates for senior citizens and people with special needs which have been facilitated through this centre is especially promising as this demonstrates the difference that this sort of customer service can make to the lives of our more vulnerable residents.
‘It is vital that all of our customer services become more accessible and convenient for our residents. We must continue to take service delivery to the next level,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Johan van der Merwe.
This office operates on the same days (Mondays to Sundays) and business hours as the shopping mall.
