5FM announces that long-standing drive-show presenter DJ Fresh will be leaving the station after more than ten years. Fresh will be leaving 5FM to join big sister station Metro FM.
5FM’s Marketing Manager and acting Station Manager, Liesl Hefkie, says the relationship between Metro FM and 5FM has always been a mutually beneficial one that sees the two commercial powerhouses of the SABC share audiences and ideas that offer clients an unparalleled audience footprint. The move for Fresh to Metro FM has been a long-term plan for the two brands.
“We wish Fresh all the best and thank him for the incredible service and commitment to 5FM over the years,” she said.
Fresh had his last show on 5FM this morning. He said his farewell to listeners this afternoon as the station paid tribute to the ‘Big Dawg’ in true Live Loud 5FM style on the Forbes and Fix Show, before he starts his exciting new venture on Metro FM on Monday, 3rd April.
5FM is excited at the prospect of putting together a new breakfast show that caters for the ever-changing and exciting new nature of the audio media landscape. The new show will launch on 1 May 2017.
