Following the recent departure of Iman Rappetti, and the request from Jeremy Maggs to shift to an earlier time slot, the hunt was on for a new premier pair to host the popular nightly news show. Veteran broadcaster Vuyo Mvoko and eNCA mid- morning anchor Cathy Mohlahlana will host News Night from Monday 22 May 2017.

eNCA Channel News Director Mapi Mhlangu says it’s a strong partnership. “Vuyo brings political knowledge and years of experience and Cathy has excelled as an anchor since she moved from field reporting. There is a great synergy between the two.” says Mapi.

Vuyo has worked across print and television for many years, earning him a reputation as a solid news man and an accomplished writer and broadcaster. His NewsNight appointment is familiar territory. “I’m excited to be back home because this is where my television journalism career began in 1999. With everything going on in the country today, Cathy and I hope to rise to the challenge of telling the story as it unfolds.” says Vuyo.Cathy is ready for the challenge but mindful of the responsibilities it brings.“The democratic project in South Africa is facing challenges politically, socially and economically. The need for fair and credible news continues to increase. It’s exciting to be part of team which endeavours to do just that. Vuyo is someone I have the utmost respect for and I look forward to beginning this new chapter with him”. says Cathy.

Mapi Mhlangu says eNCA is committed to developing talent: “We are thrilled to see a young star such as Cathy ready for this new position. We are equally pleased to have Vuyo home. He is a real team player, and highly respected in our newsroom.” says Mapi.

Top flight broadcaster Jeremy Maggs is moving to Newsday and will be on our screens from 1pm – 4pm every week day.

Michelle Craig and Shahan Ramkissoon move from afternoons to mid mornings from 9am – 1pm daily.

Joanne Joseph remains in her popular 4pm – 6pm slot.

Uveka Rangappa and Dan Moyane stay on Morning News Today, 6am – 9am.

“We now have an even stronger line up Monday to Friday,” says Mapi. “The morning show is going from strength to strength with Dan and Uveka at the helm, giving a solid start to the news day. Each show is ready for the challenges our country’s rapidly changing news environment brings.”

The new line up will come into effect on Monday 22 May
