Port Elizabeth has waited long enough…. and now it’s finally here! Alistair Izobell Productions and Marmalade Productions are teaming up again to bring you the best show to hit PE in years. The finest Cape Town artists on one stage including: Alistair Izobell, Karen Kortje, Nur Abrahams, Sasha Lee Davids, Loukmaan Adams and Austin Rose. These amazing artists will be supported by a six-piece band comprising of the best musicians from the mother city.
Alistair Izobell – has become widely regarded as one of Cape Town`s best champions of local music and entertainment and has created many opportunities for young artists. He is one of South Africa`s foremost artists, producers and musical directors, having started his career at age seven, and later went on to perform in David Kramer and Taliep Petersen`s Kat and the Kings, which earned him and the cast the Laurence Olivier Best Actor in a Musical award. His recent successes include; Kaapse Stoep Stories, Remembering the Lux, Kaapse Jol, Music Alla Kaap and writing the theme song for the Kyknet soap opera Suidooster. Alistair is working on a variety of new and exciting projects this year. The first of many will be creating a NPO which will benefit young emerging talent who need assistance in the Western Cape. Karin Kortje – winner of the third season of Idols SA, Karin Kortje has used her platform to achieve her rightful place in the mother city as our own diva. Her first album was released in November 2006 entitled “Forever and The Day” and sold more than 20 000 units. In 2011 Karin starred in the musical “This Is My Life” telling her life story and the show ran successfully for two seasons. Some of Karin’s most memorable career highlights include, performing in Sydney Australia, sharing the stage with Judy Boucher, Tamia, Sybil and on the Divas and Music Alla Kaap shows at GrandWest. She has recently produced and performed in her own shows at the Baxter Theatre and GrandWest.
Nur Abrahams – started singing professionally at the age of 6 and has been performing ever since. He has been part of successful music groups – Limited Edition and JAG. He received The Baxter Theatre’s Young Inspiring Artist of the Year Award in 2012. Nur has performed in a host of successful shows including: District 6 The Musical, Vocal Is Lekka, Radio Classics, Slick Swing, Scrooge, Music Alla Kaap (sharing the stage with the late Zayn Adam and Percy Sledge), Vocal Mania and Divos. Nur’s recent performances have been in the very successful production Remembering the Lux at the Baxter theatre and his sold out very first solo show entitled “I am Music”.
Sasha Lee Davids – 2009 co-winner of South African Idols season 5 alongside Jason Hartman. She is also the winner of the 2008 reality TV show “Matrix” season 2. Sasha Lee performed in her own TV reality show called “The House of Davids” which showcased the lives of the Davids family and their involvement in the community of Atlantis. The show ran successfully for a year. After winning Idols she released her début album, “Sasha-Lee” and had the opportunity to work with Jamie Jones, lead singer of the Grammy Award winning group All-4-One, on a track entitled, “Before You”. She has recently performed in a variety of shows including Divas, Duets, Kaapse Jol and her own shows at the Baxter and GrandWest. Her brand new single “Forever Yours” was released earlier this year and available on iTunes.
Loukmaan Adams – started his musical career at the age of six, he participated in the Malay Choirs as well as Coon Carnival. As part of the group Ricardo and Friends he performed with the likes of Stevie Wonder and Bonnie Tyler. He was cast as “Broe’tjie” In “District Six the Musical”. In 1995, he was cast as “Bingo” in Kat & The Kings. For this production, he received the Best Actor in a Musical and the FNB Vita Award for the Best Performer and Choreographer. He also received the Naledi Award for Best Choreography in Ghoema. He was responsible for vocal training and choreography of The Kramer Peterson Songbook which was a tribute show to the late great Taliep Petersen. TV acting roles include Alie Barber and Malan & Kie. He starred in Where the Boys Are and Second Time Around and was a part of “Brother Love” which had two successful seasons at the Baxter Theatre.
Austin Rose – is a 19 years old singer and actor. His career started at the tender age of 10, when he started singing in a Sunday school choir at his church and since then his career has blossomed. This hard-working young artist had had the privilege to work, perform and learn for the cream of SA music stars including: Emo Adams, Loukmaan Adams, Nur Abrahams, Karin Kortjie, Jimmy Nevis, The Black Ties, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, Sharleen Sur-tie-Richards and Alistair Izobell. Austin has been part of a theatre production entitled: “Cape Town to Motown” and has acted in two very important South African feature films, “Four Corners” and played the lead in “Noem my Skollie”, based on the life of writer, John Fredericks. Austin also acted in an ABC Studios TV series, “Of Kings and Prophets”.
