Tomorrow millions of Muslims across the world will commemorate Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice. This also marks the culmination of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
On behalf of the City of Cape Town, I would like to wish members of the city’s Muslim community a blessed Eid al-Adha.
The Muslim community is an integral part of our efforts to build a caring city, with the many notable acts of generosity towards those in need.
We are eternally grateful for these kind deeds which demonstrate the vital role that residents play in helping to shape an inclusive society that is tolerant and compassionate to all.
During this time of thanksgiving and sacrifice, it is my hope that the Muslim community is filled with a sense of inner peace and deep spiritual gratitude. I wish you all a wonderful day as you enjoy the festivities with your loved ones.
A blessed Eid al-Adha. May the blessings of the Almighty Allah be with you on this auspicious day.
