The musical spectacle Classics returns to Pretoria in June and this year audiences can look forward to a tour de force of hits through the ages – from Bon Jovi to Andrew Lloyd Webber, from Cyndi Lauper to Evanescence. Last year’s concert set the stage for an unmatched musical extravaganza and this year’s production promises to leave the audience breathless.

The timeless pop music of ABBA, the songwriting genius of Elton John and the raw rock and roll
power of Queen are but a few of the highlights that will be performed by some of South Africa’s
greatest vocal talents, alongside the opulence of a full symphony orchestra.

“Classics 2018 will give a new meaning to the word extravaganza. This year we honour some of the greatest music icons in history and showcase a performance from the legendary The Lion King as well as The Greatest Showman – the film currently on everyone’s lips,” says Barry Pretorius, creative director of Classics.

The angelic voice of international child prodigy Amira and the enchanting Touch of Class will once again share the stage with vocal virtuosos Corlea and Jannie Moolman for captivating moments that will steal your breath away.

Also gracing the stage will be international vocalist Joseph Clarke, best known for his brilliant interpretation of Freddie Mercury (Queen at the Opera), Tarryn Lamb, whom audiences will recognize as one third of the chart topping group Blackbyrd, as well as the beautiful Afrikaans songstress Monique Steyn. Pretorius says that audiences can look forward to a myriad of highlights. “Classics has always been a world class production and with the help of our new 9000 seater venue, Sun Arena, we are geared to blow audiences away.”

Thanks to Classics’ international quality, Amira and Patrizio Buanne’s performance of O Sole Mio has enjoyed more than 17 million views on YouTube, proving that Classics can compete with some of the greatest concerts around the world.

Classics will be on stage on 9 June at 13:00 and 19:30 in the Sun Arena of Time Square in Pretoria. Tickets are now available from Computicket, Shoprite/Checkers-, House & Home-winkels, or call 0861 915 8000. Tickets can also be booked online by nationwide.
